chronic kidney disease (ICBAS, 2025–); co-supervisor of a thesis on the impact of early-stage CKD on
weight loss outcomes after gastric bypass (ICBAS, 2021–2022), published in
Obesity Surgery.

Clinical and Molecular Characterization of Obesity-Related Kidney Disorders
(PhD research programme, UMIB-ICBAS/UP): prospective cohort with serial evaluation, protocol design,
recruitment, informed consent, biobanking, longitudinal data collection and safety oversight; omics
analyses with national and international reference laboratories; ethics committee, GDPR and biospecimen
governance compliance.
Local coordination and case enrolment — ERKNet
European Rare Kidney Disease Reference Network: identification and enrolment of
patients with rare kidney disease, standardised data capture registries, clinical phenotyping and case
review panels.
Co-Investigator — RICERCARE
Portuguese Society of Nephrology screening programme for Fabry disease in CKD stages
1–5: patient identification, genetic screening workflows and clinical phenotyping.
